The four-year-old boy was reported missing on Monday afternoon, sparking appeals on social media and a large search operation. | |
“Following an extensive search assisted by the police helicopter, the child was located in a swimming pool at Knapp House Activity Centre,” a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said. | |
“He was taken to North Devon District Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. | |
“Officers are investigating the circumstances and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.” | |
Police said the missing report was received shortly before 3pm on the bank holiday, which saw warm temperatures and sunshine across the south coast. | |
Relatives of the child, who has not been named, have been informed as inquiries continue. | |
