Standing Up for New York Subway Riders

To the Editor: Re “Hoping in Vain That a Button Will Lead to a Subway Seat” (news article, Sept. 26): New Yorkers sitting in a subway car are reading, sleeping, on their phones or in their heads. When I spot a pregnant woman, I say in my big voice, “We have a pregnant woman standing,” and she always gets a seat. New Yorkers are wonderful.
