A US tourist has been killed in central Beijing after being attacked by a Chinese man, officials have said. A US tourist has been stabbed to death by a Chinese man in central Beijing, officials have said.
The man attacked two tourists and their tour guide as they visited the capital's ancient Drum Tower monument, injuring the second tourist and guide. A second tourist was badly hurt in the attack at the Drum Tower monument. The pair are relatives of a US Olympic volleyball team coach.
The assailant then committed suicide by jumping off the second storey of the monument, the officials added. No motive has been given for the attack. The assailant then committed suicide by jumping from the 13th Century landmark, officials say. The motive is not known.

A witness told the AFP news agency that he had seen a large number of police officers and forensic scientists on the scene afterwards. Reports say the tourists' guide was also hurt.
