'Resilience in the face of tragedy'
Rajini Vaidyanathan, BBC News in Las Vegas
As daylight breaks, a golden hue falls on the mirrored façade of the Mandalay Bay hotel.
If you look closely you can see the broken windows on the 32nd floor, from where Stephen Paddock sprayed bullets.
Back on street level, yellow police tape stretches along the roads nearby. The lights on the world famous Las Vegas strip went dark last night, as hundreds gathered at a vigil.
At another vigil at City Hall, 59 candles were lit, one for every person who perished. There I met Jon, a nurse who was off duty on Sunday.
He rushed to work as soon as he heard and treated dozens of victims witnessing injuries he'd never seen before.
This city has displayed so much resilience in the face of tragedy - Jon is just one vivid example of this. He told me that as he worked through the night to help the injured, he was also dealing with a personal tragedy - some of his colleagues' husbands had been killed.

Who are the victims? Accounts of heroism
The authorities have yet to confirm the identities of any of those killed. But many have been identified by family members and in local media. The aftermath of the mass shooting has revealed several of those caught up in the mayhem did their utmost to help others.
They include a 29-year-old nurse who was shot in the back while he tried to save his wife, a Navy veteran who had just returned from a tour of Afghanistan, and an off-duty police officer who also coached youth football. Todd Blyleven, a former minor league baseball player, told the Washington Post that after helping his friends, he returned to help others get out of the venue.
What gun laws does Nevada have? The paper says he joined a "group of volunteers" and may have helped remove 30 or 40 people from the gunfire.
Nevada has some of the least stringent gun laws in the United States. Twenty-nine-year-old Sonny Melton, of Tennessee, was fatally shot while helping his wife, Heather.
People are allowed to carry weapons and do not have to register themselves as gun owners. "He grabbed me and started running when I felt him get shot in the back," she told WMV-TV in Nashville.
Background checks are done when people buy guns, but they are also allowed to sell them privately. "I want everyone to know what a kind-hearted, loving man he was, but at this point, I can barely breathe."
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who survived a shooting six years ago, called for political leaders in Washington to introduce tougher gun laws following the Las Vegas attack. Others killed in the mass shooting include a Navy veteran who had just returned from a tour of Afghanistan, and an off-duty police officer who also coached youth football.
Her husband Mark Kelly read out a joint statement from the couple on the steps of the Capitol, saying thoughts and prayers from the White House were not enough to stop the next shooting.
