A British woman who went missing two years ago in Spain was strangled, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

The body of Patricia Heard, 58, originally from Bedworth, Warwickshire, was found on Tuesday in the region of Pego, between Valencia and Alicante.

She had been reported missing in July 2006 from the home she had emigrated to in Valencia.

Her husband Allen Heard, 63, also originally from Bedworth, was charged last week with her murder.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police confirmed the body found was that of Mrs Heard.

Officers had said Mr and Mrs Heard emigrated together to Spain in early 2006.

Mr Heard is in police custody after appearing before Nuneaton Magistrates' Court last week.

He is due to appear before Warwick Crown Court on Friday.
