A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was fatally shot in the chest. A second person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was fatally shot in the chest.
Police were called to Barnard Close in Oswaldtwistle, near Accrington, at about 20:25 BST on Wednesday to reports that a man aged 32 had suffered a single gunshot wound. Lee Holt, 32, from Accrington was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday after police were called to Barnard Close in Oswaldtwistle at about 20:25 BST.
He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 14-year-old boy from Oswaldtwistle was arrested shortly after the shooting and remains in custody.
Lancashire Police said the teenage boy, from Accrington, is currently in custody. A 49-year-old man was arrested on Thursday afternoon and is in custody.
Det Insp Pete Danby said: "Firstly my thoughts are with the man's family at this incredibly sad and difficult time. Lancashire Police said the investigation is ongoing.
"We think this was an isolated incident and believe there is no wider threat to local residents." Det Ch Insp Jill Johnston from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts and condolences remain with Lee's family at this very difficult time. We have specially trained officers supporting them.
The force has added extra patrols in the area and the victim's family are being supported by specially trained officers, Det Insp Danby added. "I would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers. She added those involved were known to each other and "we do not believe there is a wider threat to local residents."
The police do not think it is linked to two other firearms discharges in Accrington in June, DCI Johnston added.
