A Belgian and “Argentinian citizens” are among those killed in the New York City truck attack on Tuesday. At least three Argentinians have been killed and two more were seriously injured in the deadly New York terrorist attack on Tuesday.One of the dead has been confirmed as Ariel Erlij a 48-year-old businessman from the central Argentinian city of Rosario.
Erlij is reported by Argentinian media as having travelled to New York with a group of former high school mates.
Argentina’s consul in New York, Mateo Estremé, confirmed Erlij was among the victims, and said that as well as the three confirmed dead there were two more Argentinians involved.
The group were reportedly part of a group of Class of 1987 high school friends. Local media in Argentina is reporting that Erlij, who owned a local steel mill, paid the fares of some of his schoolmates in order for them to be able to make the trip to the US with him.
The news came after the Belgian government confirmed one of its citizens was killed in the New York City truck attack on Tuesday.

Argentina’s foreign ministry confirmed “Argentine citizens died” in the attack.
The ministry did not say how many Argentinians were killed, however unconfirmed reports suggest as many as four.
Argentina’s Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie Tweeted that the government was “working with local authorities to identify our compatriots”.
