Police patrols have been stepped up in a town in north Wales after a heavily pregnant woman was attacked in her bed by burglars. A mother who gave birth hours after being badly beaten by intruders is in a stable condition in hospital.
Nerys Price, 35, delivered baby Freya by an emergency Caesarean operation following the attack at her home in Prestatyn in Denbighshire. Nerys Price, 35, from Prestatyn, Denbighshire, was hit twice on the head with a weapon in the attack and her partner Simon Morris was also hurt.
She was transferred from Glan Clwyd hospital to Walton Hospital, Liverpool. Their daughter Freya was delivered by Caesarean section before the mother underwent surgery for head injuries.
She was operated on for her head injuries but has now been transferred back to the hospital in north Wales. Mr Morris's father David said both mother and baby were now doing well, but it could have been much worse.
She is in a stable condition, the hospital said. "I was with my wife in church and people have been so supportive there - the vicar, everybody, in their prayers. We have now got a beautiful beautiful granddaughter and we've got Nerys, we've got Simon David Morris
Her daughter Freya, who was delivered early because it was thought the trauma could have affected her, is said to be healthy. "And I thought we could have been there this morning mourning three people - a little baby, and my son, and my son's partner."
Ms Price, who holds a senior position with a building firm, lives with her partner Simon Morris in Calthorpe Drive in Prestatyn. The couple were attacked in their home in Calthorpe Drive, Prestatyn, early on Friday.

"Simon I know is still upset. It was a big ordeal for him, looking forward really to a natural birth.
"But in the end it doesn't matter. We have now got a beautiful beautiful granddaughter and we've got Nerys, we've got Simon."
The burglars fled empty-handed and officers said the motive for the attack was unclear, although Mr Morris has said he believed his son's car may have been the target.
Police patrols have been stepped up near where the incident happened.

Officers said the motive for the attack was unclear although Mr Morris's parents told the Daily Post newspaper they believed their son's car may have been the raiders' target. No description has so far been issued of the attackers, and police are appealing for information.
A police spokesman also confirmed that Ms Price will be transferred from Liverpool back to Glan Clwyd hospital to be near her daughter "at a later date".

Det Insp Graham Talbot said: "Incidents of this nature are very rare in north Wales but we are appealing to the general public to give us information to help us apprehend the people responsible for this crime as soon as possible."
