http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/entertainment/7567992.stm Version 0 of 1. Coronation Street character Jed Stone, played by actor Kenneth Cope, is returning to the ITV soap 42 years after he last appeared in the show. The 77-year-old first set foot on the streets of Weatherfield in 1961 as Minnie Caldwell's lodger - who was nicknamed Sunny Jim. He was last seen in 1966 being arrested for handling stolen blankets. An ITV spokeswoman said Cope would have a recurring role in the show and was "delighted" to be asked back. "Older viewers will recognise him," she added. Cope made a brief appearance a few weeks ago but will return to screens tonight and continue to appear as part of a storyline that will run until Christmas. The character, now a pensioner, is part of a plot involving property developer Tony Gordon. His pet cat has adopted his nickname. |
