Version 0 of 1.

Couples in the East of England who have difficulty in conceiving are to be offered more fertility treatment cycles on the NHS, it has been announced.

Childless couples who meet the recommended eligibility criteria are to be offered up to three treatments or cycles by primary care trusts (PCTs).

Currently, PCTs across the region offer only one or two cycles of NHS-funded IVF treatment.

The new policy will take effect in the east from April 2009.

Couples in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire will be able to take advantage of the new rules, set out by a special East of England commissioning group.
