Seaham and Blackhall raids net 77,000 counterfeit cigarettes

A man has been arrested after more than 77,000 cigarettes were seized in raids in County Durham.

Police said the haul recovered from a shop in Seaham and a house in Blackhall had a street value of of about £25,000.

Officers from Durham Police were accompanied by staff from Durham Council's trading standards department.

The arrested man, who has not been named, is being held on suspicion of being involved in the supply of counterfeit cigarettes.

More than 28kg (60lbs) of hand rolling tobacco and an undisclosed amount of cash was also seized.
