Youths held over teenager murder

Two 16-year-old youths have been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old stabbed to death in east London.

Police found Charles Junior Hendricks lying injured near Selborne Road Walthamstow, early on 24 August.

Police said one of the 16-year-olds was arrested when he attended an east London police station on Thursday.

The other youth was arrested in the street in Holloway, north London, on Thursday evening.

Both teenagers remain in police custody.

'Good boy'

Two others who were earlier arrested in connection with Mr Hendricks' killing - a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth - were released on bail to return in September.

Mr Hendricks was the 24th teenager to be killed in violent circumstances in London this year.

He died from stab wounds to the chest, a post-mortem examination found.

Following his death his grandmother Weda Campbell said he was a "very good boy".

Police found the teenager after they saw two or three youths running from the area.

He was pronounced dead in hospital.

Police appealed for witnesses saying the incident occurred close to a "well-lit bus garage" and close to Selborne Walk Shopping Centre.

The killing led to the cancellation of Walthamstow's celebration of the handover of the Olympics to London.
