He said: "The woman says 'there's a little bit of a fire at the hotel next door you need to get out'. Not sure what that woman thinks a big fire is but I'd call this a bit more than a little fire." "When we went outside you couldn't tell it was a winter night as the heat coming off the fire was immense," he said.
Welsh Road, Station Road and two lanes of the eastbound A494 are closed because of smoke blowing across the roads. "When we came outside the whole roof and top floor was on fire on the side facing our building.
Flintshire council said it anticipated heavy congestion in the area and suggested roads would remain closed for at least six hours. "People who had nowhere to go were instructed to go to the fire station for shelter if needed.

Welsh Road and Station Road are closed while the A494, which had been closed eastbound to the east of Queensferry, has reopened, although traffic is heavy.
