Almost all oil and gas production in the region - which produces 25% of the US's crude oil and 15% of its natural gas - is now shut down ahead of Gustav. According to firm officials and US government data, 13 oil refineries - or 15% of the country's fuel output, were closed, said news agency Reuters.
