Manchester City Art Gallery was lending paintings to the public in the 1970s and 80s (Editorial, 15 January). We made trips to Manchester, looked through rows of contemporary art and made a choice, so the children grew up with a changing display of interesting and challenging art on the kitchen wall. • You say the venue for the Bayeux tapestry’s visit is not decided – but it needs to be 70 metres long. It occurs to me that a very long wall may be sufficient, such as found in a train station. I recommend Waterloo.John HughesWath-upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire• You say the venue for the Bayeux tapestry’s visit is not decided – but it needs to be 70 metres long.
