At least three people have been killed and as many as 50 wounded after a powerful explosion rocked the city centre of the Afghan capital of Kabul.  At least 17 people have been killed and 110 wounded after a powerful explosion rocked the city centre of the Afghan capital of Kabul. 
A plume of smoke was seen rising from the site of the explosion, which happened near the old Interior Ministry building.
Mirwais Yasini, a member of parliament, who was nearby when the explosion occurred, said an ambulance was carrying the bomb.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Kabul has been the site of numerous bombing attacks claimed by the Taliban and Isis over the last year.  Last week, Taliban militants killed 22 people in a luxury Kabul hotel.
