Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident between a bus, tram and car which left one man dead. A bus driver has been arrested after his vehicle collided with a tram and a car, killing a man.
A double-decker bus was involved in a collision with a tram before it went on to hit a BMW car. The driver was one of six people taken to hospital following the incident in central Croydon, south London, on Sunday morning.
The crash happened on Sunday morning in George Street, in central Croydon, south London. Police said the bus collided with a tram before it hit a BMW car. A 28-year-old bus passenger died at the scene.
About six people were injured in the collision and treated in hospital. The bus driver was also taken to hospital and two shop fronts were damaged. The 28-year-old driver was arrested on Sunday after he left hospital.
Full investigation He had been treated for minor injuries.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the man who died was believed to be in his late 20s but it was unclear whether he was pedestrian or from one of the vehicles. The crash happened at about 0950 BST in George Street and two shop fronts were damaged in the incident.
Deepest sympathies
Police said they were still awaiting formal identification but next of kin had been informed.
A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday.
