A man has been arrested after an 11-year-old girl was stabbed several times in a house in Wolverhampton. An 11-year-old girl has died after being stabbed several times at a house in Wolverhampton.

A 51-year-old man related to the girl was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to hospital with a hand injury. He remains under arrest on suspicion of murder.
Supt Harvi Khatkar, from West Midlands Police, said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbing. A post mortem examination is expected to be held on Sunday and the house remains behind a cordon while forensic experts continue their examinations.
"This is an extremely distressing incident and we are working to establish exactly what has happened. A woman in her 80s, also a relative of the girl, suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder during the attack and has also been treated in hospital.
"We fully understand the impact that this will have on the community." A neighbour, who did not wish to be identified, said the elderly victim banged on her front door seeking help.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the girl was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived and crews carried out "life-saving trauma care" at the house before taking her to hospital. The neighbour said: "My son answered the door. The woman was wearing a dressing gown and said the little girl had been attacked.
"An elderly woman was also assessed and treated on scene after suffering less serious injuries before being taken to hospital for further checks," the spokesperson added. "She asked for help and she was very upset."
Supt Harvi Khatkar, from West Midlands Police, said: "This is an extremely distressing incident and our sympathies go out to everyone affected.
"We are working to establish exactly what has happened and fully understand the impact that this will have on the community."
Extra officers from the force will be patrolling the area.
