Man bailed after 'driving' death

A man arrested in connection with the death of a mother-of-two in a suspected hit-and-run incident has been released on bail.

Valerie Syddall, 32, was found with serious injuries in Greenhill Avenue, Farnworth, Bolton, on Saturday night. She later died in hospital.

A 60-year-old man, from Bolton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Tuesday.

Greater Manchester Police said he had been bailed to return in February.

Paramedics found Ms Syddall, known locally as Valerie Brown, lying at the side of the road at about 2230 GMT.

She was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with serious head injuries but died a short time later.
