The 14 year old died late Wednesday night, friends and family confirmed on social media. Montalto, who served on the school’s winter guard team, a sport that derives from military ceremonies, had been reported missing.
One of her color guard instructors, Manuel Miranda, posted about her death Wednesday night.

Carmen Schentrup The sheriff praised Hixon and Feis as heroes, saying: “Those two heroes gave their lives for our kids and probably helped prevent this from being a worse tragedy than it is today.”

Friend Julie Allen confirmed she was missing. Loughran was later confirmed dead by a neighbor. “It is with a heavy heart and much regret that I write these words. Our next-door neighbor’s daughter was one of the lives taken to soon by a senseless act of violence at Stoneman Douglas High School. RIP Cara, and fly with the angels.
