(about 3 hours later)
Stansted Airport's terminal was partially evacuated after a bus caught fire close to the main building. All departing flights from Stansted Airport have been cancelled after a bus caught fire close to the main building.

Flights were delayed as airport officials said they were urgently investigating the fire that broke out on the car park shuttle bus. The fire, which broke out on a shuttle bus, reportedly caused damage to the front of the terminal building
At least one fire engine rushed to the scene and police diverted traffic away from the terminal. Essex Fire Service said four fire crews were sent to the scene as diverted traffic away from the terminal.
The airport tweeted later that the blaze was put out but passengers said that in that time flights had been delayed. There were no injuries but some passengers complained at being stuck outside the terminal building; others were dismayed by what they said was the absence of an action plan.
Some complained at being stuck outside the terminal building; others were dismayed by what they said was the absence of an action plan. One said: "No one really knows what they are doing. We had to stand for 10 min 20 m away from fire just to wait for someone to make a decision of next action plan."
At 4.40pm the airport said: "Due to a fire on the car park shuttle bus, terminal forecourt and surrounded area including parts of the terminal building are being evacuated due to smoke. We are investigating this as a matter of urgency and will provide an update shortly."At 4.40pm the airport said: "Due to a fire on the car park shuttle bus, terminal forecourt and surrounded area including parts of the terminal building are being evacuated due to smoke. At least one take-off was delayed, with a passenger tweeting: "We are inside the plane - apparently we do not have permission to fly as the airport mixed the inbound with the outbound travellers.... This is what the pilot just told us .... Unbelievable." Three hours later the airport cancelled on departing flights until midnight, asking passengers to leave Stansted.
Another traveller said: "No one really knows what they are doing. We had to stand for 10 min 20 m away from fire just to wait for someone to make a decision of next action plan." Bosses at the airport apologised and advised passengers to re-book their flights with their airlines.
Others said they had been held in baggage areas.
By 5.15pm the airport reported that the fire had been extinguished.
Passengers due to fly tonight were advised to contact their airline.
