Peckleton bungalow collapse: Woman suffers life-threatening burns

A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries in an explosion which caused a bungalow to collapse.

Emergency services were called to an address on Kirkby Lane in Peckleton, Leicestershire, just after 18:30 BST on Thursday.

Dogs were used to search the wreckage and the woman was taken to a hospital in Birmingham suffering from serious burns.

An investigation into the cause is under way.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it believed the bungalow collapsed as the result of an explosion.

A section of road was closed by Leicestershire Police and the force advised people to avoid the area.

Officers said no-one else was hurt.
