New appeal by custody row father Misbah to stay in Lahore for now

The father of schoolgirl Misbah Rana has begun a fresh bid to keep his daughter in Pakistan. The Scottish schoolgirl at the centre of an international custody battle is to stay in Pakistan until at least the middle of January.
He has lodged a new appeal with Lahore Supreme Court asking that she be allowed to stay with him until her custody case is resolved. A hearing into Misbah Rana's case, due to take place at Islamabad Supreme Court, has been postponed until then.

If the court decides that there is a case, it could last as long as two months.
However, if there is not deemed to be a viable case, or that she should stay with her mother during the appeal, then the girl could be handed over to the British High Commission, in Islamabad, immediately.
