Re “When Suspect Said ‘Kill Me,’ Officer Put Away His Gun” (news article, April 25):

Constable Ken Lam, the Toronto police officer who got a van driver suspected of plowing down pedestrians to surrender without firing a shot, has certainly made us Torontonians proud during this difficult and tragic time.

As Canadians, we’re also proud of our strict gun laws, which no doubt helped in the quick, safe and efficient takedown of the accused mass murderer, Alek Minassian, whose only available weapon of choice that day was a rental van.
