A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said that the body - discovered on Friday at about 1130 GMT, will not be formally identified until next of kin have been informed. Det Ch Insp John Quentin said it was not clear whether the bodies had been left in the same place.
The spokeswoman said a cordon has been set up at the scene - near the public weighbridge at Copdock Mill - and arrangements are being made to recover the body. Miss Adams was last seen wearing a black waterproof waist length jacket
A post mortem examination will be conducted by a Home Office pathologist at a time to be arranged. "We are looking at three distinct issues here. We have got an officer leading the inquiry into the death of Gemma Adams.
"I'm leading the inquiry into the missing person, Tania Nicol. The fact that we've got a body here at Copdock means that we will oversee and look at the identification and the cause of death.
"It's much too early to make any conjecture in relation to, whether this, the body we found today and that of Gemma are linked in any way.
"But certainly from the Suffolk Constabulary perspective it is something we will bear in mind and a decision will be made in relation to all these inquiries."
