And that could have been it. Beaked whales have a characteristic diving pattern of one deep dive that can last for an hour, followed by several shorter ones - no-one knows why - and if it was headed for the bottom, that was probably all we would see.And that could have been it. Rather than leaving this morning, as I had expected, Song of the Whale left harbour last night.
