Dozens of dead animals on farm
(about 3 hours later) | |
The USPCA have rescued more than 100 animals from Littleacre Open Farm in Loughbrickland, County Down.
Investigators also found dozens of rotten carcasses including guinea pigs, rabbits, a peacock and a goat.
"We made gruesome discovery, after gruesome discovery," said Stephen Philpott, director of the USPCA.
"Dead animals. Animals locked behind shed doors, being left there to die, no water, no food. This is an appalling scene of neglect."
The animals were discovered on Saturday evening and the USPCA returned to the site on Sunday morning to remove the animals.
Many were sick as a result of what the charity described as "appalling neglect".
Roosters, pheasants and a llama were among the animals transported to USPCA shelters. | Roosters, pheasants and a llama were among the animals transported to USPCA shelters. |
