Police in Inverness have arrested four people and seized a "significant" amount of drugs during raids in the city's Hilton area.

Three men were taken into custody on Saturday night, while a fourth man was arrested on Sunday.

More than £45,000 of drugs were recovered in the operations.

Four people have died from suspected drug misuse in Inverness this month, leading to fears a batch of contaminated heroin is on the streets.

Shaun McCulloch, 39, was found dead in Tannery Court on Friday afternoon, the day after 19-year-old Christopher Carson died at an address in Telford Road.

Drug users Angela Spear, 28, and Rory Devine, 30, both died in separate incidents in the city earlier this month.

'Dealing quantity'

NHS Highland has warned injecting drug users to take extra care.

Confirming the arrests, a Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "Three males, aged 38, 35 and 39, were arrested in relation to drug dealing offences, on Saturday 27 September, in the Hilton area of Inverness. A dealing quantity of Class A drugs was recovered.

"In a separate incident, a significant quantity of Class A and Class B drugs was recovered today, 28 September, from a house in the Hilton area of Inverness. The street value of the drugs is estimated at £45,000."

All four arrested men are due to appear from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.
