Emergency crews were called to the crash near the border between West and North Yorkshire at 2030 GMT on Friday. Thomas Dunn, Michael Tempest and Oliver Cross were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near the border between West and North Yorkshire.
A red Ford Escort had collided with a silver Renault, police said. The three boys were all 16 and pupils at St Aiden's School in Harrogate.
The 18-year-old Escort driver was taken to Harrogate Hospital with serious injuries. His three passengers, all 17, were declared dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver is in a serious but stable condition in York Hospital after the crash on Friday night.
