Ch Insp John Owen from Staffordshire Police described the challenges of the rescue operation.
"It is extremely thick with weeds," he said. "It is not a simple task, it's extremely difficult and I really want to stress the importance of the community to understand that potentially we might not make any recoveries with regards to Ryan today, or even potentially tomorrow."
