Obama to meet key poll activists

Possible US White House candidate Barack Obama is visiting important political testing grounds amid fresh speculation about his political plans.

The sole black senator is to speak to Democratic activists in New Hampshire, which holds the first presidential primary in just over a year.

Senator Obama admitted in October he is considering a White House run in 2008.

Expected front-runner Hillary Clinton has yet to declare. Iowa governor Tom Vilsack recently announced he will run.

The Illinois senator has acknowledged he has considered running for US president in 2008, despite earlier claims he would serve in post until 2010.

Mr Obama said he would give the matter more thought after the mid-term elections.

He was recently on the cover of Time magazine, with the headline: Why Barack Obama could be the Next President.

Mr Obama's advisers expect him to reveal whether he intends to run in a matter of weeks.
