Four people rescued in flat fire 30 people made homeless by fire

Four people had to be rescued after a blaze at a three-storey block of flats in Ballynahinch. Up to 30 people have had their homes destroyed by a fire at a three-storey block of flats in County Down.
Fire crews rescued a man and woman trapped on the top floor, and an elderly man on the ground floor. Four people were rescued after the blaze broke out at Loughside Drive in Ballynahinch on Tuesday afternoon.
Ambulance teams helped another man to safety. No-one was injured. Twelve flats were destroyed and residents are spending the night in a nearby hotel. Twelve Housing Executive flats were destroyed and residents spent the night in a nearby hotel.
The blaze at Loughside Drive took hold in one of the flats at about 1530 BST on Tuesday afternoon. "We working to see where we can get them placed and then see what their longer term requirements are," said Aidan Brannigan of the executive.
The police said there was nothing suspicious about how the fire started.
