The trial of Mr Tobin, 62, is due to begin on 3 November at the High Court in Dundee.
Victoria Young, defending, formally indicated that her client had an alibi and a list of witnesses he plans to use at his trial to help with his defence.
False trail | |
She told the hearing that Mr Tobin claims that between 1700 GMT and midnight on the day Vicky disappeared he was in the Portsmouth area, and then travelled back to Scotland, arriving in Edinburgh at 0630 GMT on the morning of 11 February 1991.
The indictment alleges that Mr Tobin made the schoolgirl go with him to his then-home in Robertson Avenue, Bathgate, and there, or elsewhere, that he assaulted and drugged her.
It is further claimed that he carried out a serious indecent assault as well as struggling with the teenager and causing an injury to her neck.
Mr Tobin is also accused of trying to cover up the murder by hiding her body, disposing of her clothes and other belongings and trying to lead police on a false trail by leaving her purse under a Portacabin.
It is alleged he then bisected Vicky's body, wrapped her in bin bags, hid the knives he had used and then concealed, transported and buried her body parts.
He denies all the charges against him. |
