The former Southampton and Peterborough United football coach Bob Higgins has been found guilty of indecently assaulting a schoolboy player. The former football coach Bob Higgins has been found guilty of one charge of indecent assault of a young player and not guilty of another count.
Higgins, 65, was cleared of an assault on a second complainant. A jury at Winchester crown court has not yet reached a decision on a further 48 counts of indecent assault. Higgins is said to have assaulted the boys while giving them soapy massages, in his car and at the home he shared with his wife and son. He has been found guilty of indecently assaulting complainant M, one of 24 alleged victims, in his car. He was cleared of an alleged assault on complainant G.
In court he was described as a fantastic coach but was accused of using his position of power to take advantage of teenage players.
Higgins, from Southampton, denied the offences and claimed all the allegations were false.
