'Serious incident' in Barnsley town centre Barnsley stabbing: Woman arrested after man attacked

Police officers are responding to a "serious incident" in Barnsley town centre. A woman has been arrested after a man was stabbed in a town centre.
There are unconfirmed reports on social media that a woman was arrested after a stabbing took place. Police received reports of a person - believed to be a woman - in Barnsley town centre with a knife at about 08:20 BST.
South Yorkshire Police said "there is a high visibility police presence" in the town centre and are asking people to remain vigilant. The man suffered minor injuries and the woman was arrested.
It has also been reported that a number of shops closed their doors while the incident was dealt with. South Yorkshire Police said an investigation was under way to establish "whether this is an isolated incident and whether the individual acted alone".
The force said "there is a high visibility police presence" in the town centre and have asked people to remain vigilant.
No other injuries have been reported to police.

Hannah Fuller, 24, a member of staff at the Subway sandwich shop at the Barnsley Interchange, said officers had arrived at the station at about 08:00.
She said that the officers rushed towards the railway platform and that businesses had been forced to close for an hour.
"We had to close for an hour, Peel Street was closed. The police haven't told us anything."
