Police are responding to a “serious incident” in Barnsley town centre, the South Yorkshire force has said. Police have arrested a person in connection with a knife attack in Barnsley town centre on Saturday morning, the South Yorkshire force has said.
There was a high visibility police presence in the town and members of the public were asked to be vigilant. Officers were called to the town centre at about 8.20am after reports that a man had been stabbed. Police then received several further reports of an individual carrying a knife in the town centre.
