Two dissident suspects arrested Roads closed after disturbances
(about 21 hours later)
Two men have been arrested in County Armagh as part of a police investigation into dissident republicans. Vehicles have been hijacked and petrol bombs and stones thrown during trouble in the Craigavon and Lurgan areas of County Armagh on Wednesday night.
The men, who are aged 35 and 37, were arrested in Craigavon on Wednesday morning. A bus was hijacked by masked men in Craigavon at the Drumbeg roundabout.
A police spokeswoman said it was part of an ongoing investigation into serious crime. In Lurgan, a van was hijacked in the Old Portadown Road. A fire crew also came under attack on Brownlow Road.
She said this centred on the activities of dissident republicans. The roads where trouble broke out, including Tandragee Road, are closed. DUP MP David Simpson said it was an attempt "to lure" police to an ambush.
