Version 0 of 1.

A masked knifeman sexually assaulted and robbed two British female tourists on the Caribbean island of Tobago, officials have said.

The man is believed to have broken into the Black Rock Dreams guesthouse and attacked the women for up to an hour.

The assault came less than two weeks after a Swedish couple were killed on the island in an apparent robbery.

The Foreign Office confirmed an assault had taken place and urged visitors to the island to exercise caution.

A spokesman said: "We are aware that an assault took place in Tobago and are offering consular assistance."

It also urged travellers to be cautious and to stay in hotels with tight security measures, including a 24-hour guard.

Trinidad's British High Commission spokesman James Dolan said officials were working with police but gave no further details of the attack, which took place on Monday.

No one has been charged in the case involving the Swedish tourists.
