A stretch of motorway is set to be closed in both directions throughout the day following a series of crashes. A man has died in a three lorry-crash on the M40, an hour after another lorry caught fire on the opposite carriageway.
A lorry fire closed the southbound stretch of the M40 between junctions 15 and 16 in Warwickshire during the early hours. The crash at 04:00 BST on the northbound stretch of the M40 between junctions 15 and 16 in Warwickshire also saw a second driver taken to hospital.
An hour later, a crash involving three heavy goods vehicles closed the northbound lanes. The road is closed in both directions.
One of the incidents resulted in a significant fuel spillage and fire, Highways England said. Highways England said it is likely to remain shut between Warwick and Henley-in-Arden "throughout" Friday.

"The driver of a second lorry, a man in his 60s, was treated at the scene for a medical condition and was taken to Warwick hospital."
Highways England said no-one had been injured in the earlier fire and recovery staff had begun to move the lorry from the southbound lanes.
