Fatal car bomb in Baloch capital

At least two people have been killed in a car bomb attack in Quetta, the capital of the Pakistani province of Balochistan, police say.

The attack took place in the area where the main government offices are located. Several people were injured.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Insurgents have been fighting for independence in gas-rich Balochistan. Quetta is also reported to be a hideout for the Afghan Taleban.

It is the poorest of Pakistan's four provinces and Baloch nationalists accuse the central government of ignoring its development needs.

Monday's blast occurred at about 1300 local time on a road near Liaquat Park. Several other vehicles in the area were badly damaged

Last month a bomb exploded at an Islamic religious school near Quetta, killing five people.
