More than two-thirds of a month’s rainfall fell in some areas in the UK over the weekend, with more unsettled weather expected. Passengers on some Greater Anglia train services were disrupted due to flooding on railway tracks and roads were closed in East Anglia. Thousands of people were without electricity during the night after Storm Ciara hit the UK with strong winds and blizzards.
Some areas had a month and a half’s rainfall in 24 hours as gusts of more than 90mph swept across the country on Sunday with 178 flood warnings in place.
