A cargo ship has run aground off Elcho Castle in the Tay estuary, near Perth, with the bow resting above a natural gas liquids pipeline. A ship which ran aground above a gas pipeline on the River Tay has managed to float free.
The Bahamian registered Celtica Hav was carrying wheat into Perth Harbour about 0330 GMT when she grounded. The Celtica Hav, which is registered in the Bahamas, became stuck near Elcho Castle at about 0330 GMT.
The seven crew on board are uninjured, and Forth coastguard hope to refloat the ship at the next high tide at about 1530 GMT. Below it was a Shell pipeline transporting ethane, propane and butane liquids between Aberdeenshire and Fife.
Shell has said the pipeline is 2.75m under the river bed. The seven crew members on the boat, which was transporting wheat from Germany to Perth Harbour, were uninjured in the accident.
