Version 0 of 1.

Autumn snow has fallen across parts of Wales, with one town experiencing its coldest October day since 1946.

Aberporth in Ceredigion struggled to reach 5C (41f), at least seven degrees below the seasonal average, said BBC meteorologist Derek Brockway.

He said the last time there was snow in October in Wales was in 2003.

More rain and snow is expected in higher parts of Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Powys, Monmouthshire and heads of the valleys.

The forecaster said: "A few centimetres of snow is possible on the higher parts of Wales above about 200m (about 600ft).

"Perhaps as much as three inches will fall on the Horseshoe Pass in Denbighshire."

He said there would be rain in Pembrokeshire and coastal areas and later on the rain and snow would ease.

There will be no frost overnight with temperatures staying just above freezing and he warned people travelling on the roads to take care as some roads, especially untreated high level routes, could be slushy.

There could also be a few icy patches in the north by the morning.

"Tomorrow any snow will be confined to the highest ground but the strength of the wind will make it feel cold over the next few days.

"The reason for the rain and snow is an area of low pressure," Mr Brockway said.

"That will move away to France tomorrow with a cold wind developing across Britain."
