Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal play a 1960s Montana couple going through turmoil when the husband takes time away from the family to fight a forest fire. In this scene, Jeanette (Mulligan) takes her son, Joe, (Ed Oxenbould) out to see what his father has been struggling to contain. Dano discusses how he crafted a period film with dramatic fire scenes on an independent feature budget.
