Re “A Left-Flank Protest on Day 1 Signals a Democratic House Divided” (news article, Nov. 13):

I’m with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected congresswoman from New York, who joined a protest against global warming outside the office of Nancy Pelosi, presumably the next Democratic speaker of the House. Why was global warming not a major focus of the Democratic Party during the midterm elections?

I have to assume that there was some kind of pragmatic calculation, but sometimes politicians need to be leaders rather than followers.

Unless there is meaningful change within the power systems, what is the future for our children, let alone our grandchildren?
