Two women have been rescued from a fire in County Fermanagh. Two women have been rescued from a fire in County Fermanagh which police are treating as suspicious.
The fire and rescue service were called to a house on Derrin Road in Enniskillen at about 0320 GMT on Monday. The women were trapped in an upstairs bedroom in the house on Derrin Road in Enniskillen when the alarm was raised at about 0320 GMT on Monday.
Fire-fighters used ladders to get them out. The women were taken to hospital where they were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke. "The fire in the hallway was quite bad and there was a lot of acrid smoke all through the house," said station commander Robbie Bryson.
A police spokeswoman said they were treating the blaze as suspicious. The women were treated in hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke.
The fire service said the women were given advice over the phone by its control room on how to block the smoke from coming into the room in which they were trapped.
"Had it not been for the smoke alarm and the advice they were given, it could have been a lot worse," said Mr Bryson.
