Tayside Police are investigating the sudden death of a nine-month-old baby in the Perth area. Detectives are investigating the sudden and unexplained death of a nine-month-old baby in Perth.
It is understood the girl died on Wednesday evening. The girl's 20-year-old mother called for help after the child became unwell at their flat in Newhouse Road at about 1930 GMT on Wednesday.
Tayside Police said the sensitive investigation was at an early stage, and inquiries would continue to establish the cause. The baby was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary but died at about 2115 GMT.
A spokesman said support was being given by police and partner agencies to the parents and close family following the death. The home has been sealed off for police examinations and a post-mortem examination will take place.
