"Residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precautionary measure because of the smoke plumes," a fire service spokesman said. Mr Griffiths said: "We arrived about 05:15 and the first fire engines were here in under five minutes and that allowed us to get a real hold of the fire and stop it spreading to any surrounding businesses so we were really fortunate in that way."
"Our main goal is to surround the fire and prevent it spreading to neighbouring properties." West Midlands Ambulance Service said there had been no injuries. It sent a paramedic and hazardous area response team to the scene.
He said the "significant fire" was tackled with a high-volume pumping unit and hydraulic platforms which allowed crews to put water on flames "from a height".
