Police have cordoned off a landfill site in Worcestershire to search for the body of a baby after a tip-off that a girl may have concealed a birth. Police will continue their search for the body of a baby believed to have been dumped on a landfill site.
Officers received the information after the girl went to Hereford County Hospital and doctors confirmed she had given birth earlier this month. Officers cordoned of the site at Throckmorton in Worcestershire on Monday after information that a teenager may have concealed a birth.
Police said it is possible the girl did not tell anyone she had given birth. West Mercia Police said the girl went to Hereford County Hospital and doctors confirmed she had given birth earlier this month.
The site at Throckmorton near Pershore has been sealed off and the teenager is said to be assisting police. It is thought the body could be in a bin liner.
In a statement, the West Mercia force said: "Police have launched an investigation after a teenager attended Hereford County Hospital and it was confirmed she had given birth earlier this month. The teenager has not been arrested and is said to be assisting police with their investigations.
