City council seeks £24m of cuts

A package of cuts worth more than £24m next year is being recommended to Aberdeen City Council.

Social services would face £8.6m of savings - including £260,000 for voluntary groups - if the plans are approved by full council.

However, no schools, libraries, museums or pools would close.

Council leader Kate Dean said the sooner measures were agreed, the sooner they could be implemented. The plans will go to full council on 17 December.

Parking charges in parks will also be considered, the resources management committee meeting heard.
